I really didn't think i was going to get inOct 11 2008Pharmacy
I really didn't think i was going to get in. It has progressivly gotten harder to get in. Anyone who got in before 2006-07 had it easy. I applied 2008, had a 3.3 GPA and i joined all the clubs senior year. I did OK freshman and Sophmore year of hs; mostly B's and C's. However, junior year i had straight A's and worked my butt off. Senior year i picked hard classes and did OK there too. I joined every club i could get into and had amazing recommendations from previous teachers(tnx to junior year). So my advice is to apply early, WRITE AN ESSAY, get above 1650 on SAT's, amazing recommendation letters, plenty of clubs + volunteer hours + leadership roles, and of course decent grades. You have a better chance of getting in if a in-state student and GOOD LUCK!!

Do well on the SAT and get good gradesNov 02 2007Computer Science
Do well on the SAT and get good grades. If you're a boarderline candidate, apply early and write a good essay explaining any weaknesses in your application, but focusing on what makes you a good student.

I can't really give any useful admission advice asSep 01 2007Biology
I can't really give any useful admission advice as I didn't even bother to fill out the essay in the application. As a NJ resident, I pretty much rode my high school GPA and SAT scores into Rutgers.

Apply early, and write the 'optional'Dec 19 2005Computer Science
Apply early, and write the 'optional' essay. The admission standards on most programs are pretty high, so if you are boarderline, you have a better chance of getting in if you apply early. Also, many programs have special admissions requirements beyond what the university requires, for example the Mason Gross School of the Arts, so pay attention to what you are submitting and make sure that you get everything in on time. Hard to get into: Rutgers College, School of Engineering, Mason Gross, School of Pharmacy. So So: Livingston College. Not so Difficult to get Accepted: Cook College(Agricultural College), Douglas College(all girls). Obviously, the tougher the college is to get into, the more desireable it is to go into that college once you are accepted. I highly recomend taking an official visit if you aren't sure which program you want to go into, to tour the campuses. Each college has its own feel and personality, so talk to some of the students while there to get an idea.
As far as i know getting in is a jokeDec 22 2004Biology
As far as i know getting in is a joke. i got into every school i applied to. i had a pretty high SAT for a state school like Rutgers(1450- 780 M,670 V) but i was EXTREMELY lazy in HS. i was the kind of person who would almost always come close to failing gym class;-). i had a ~2.9 gpa and very few activities (unless you count skateboarding and playing lots of video games). heck, i didn't even submit an essay. and they gave me a scholarship too! sure it might not have hurt that i'm instate and half hispanic (yeah i know affirmative action is pretty stupid). but still it's pretty easy to get into. my advice: dont sweat it.
